Broncos – B+
Main Additions: LB Dre Greenlaw, S Talanoa Hufanga, TE Evan Engram
Main Re-signings: QB Jarrett Stidham, DT D.J. Jones, LB Justin Strnad
Main Losses: QB Zach Wilson, RB Javonte Williams, LB Cody Barton
The Broncos added Engram in a move I called that made too much sense with the low production at the position, but he does come with injury risk for the talent. They took a chance on two 49ers in Greenlaw and Hufanga who could really payoff with their physical play, if healthy. The Broncos chose to keep Stidham over Wilson which made sense as the more experienced QB in this system. Jones is a key run defender. Strnad helps offset the Barton loss who played very well with injuries. Williams has clearly loss a step, so an upgrade was already needed.
Chargers – B+
Main Additions: RB Najee Harris, G Mekhi Becton, WR Mike Williams, CB Donte Jackson
Main Re-signings: Edge Khalil Mack, LB Denzel Perryman, WR Jalen Reagor, C Bradley Bozeman
Main Losses: Edge Joey Bosa (cut), RB Gus Edwards, CB Kristian Fulton, DT Poona Ford, WR Josh Palmer
The Chargers started off cutting long time veteran Bosa but deciding to re-sign Mack. Harris shores up the running back position with Dobbins and Edwards gone from last season. Becton was a valuable Guard on the SB winning Eagles team as a mammoth run blocker. Williams replaces Palmer giving them a better blocker with more reliable hands, but injury concerns. Jackson is a veteran inside/outside CB who can play. Bozeman keeps the O-line intact. Fulton will need to be replaced in the secondary and Ford is a veteran NT/run stopper.
KC – B
Main Additions: T Jaylon Moore, RB Elijah Mitchell, TE Robert Tonyan, CB Kristian Fulton, QB Garden Minshew
Main Re-signings: G Trey Smith (Franchise), LB Nick Bolton, WR Hollywood Brown, WR Juju Smith-Schuster, RB Kareem Hunt
Main Losses: G Joe Thuney (trade), WR DeAndre Hopkins, WR Justin Watson, S Justin Reid, DT Derrick Nnadi, RB Samaje Perine, Edge Josh Uche
The Chiefs had to trade Thuney to clear space which they didn’t want to do as he filled in at LT while also being one of the top Guards. Smith is the new leader at Guard after the franchise tag. Bolton is a physical LB they needed to keep. They took a chance on 49ers backup T Jaylon Moore to be their new LT which could pay off. Fulton is a solid lanky CB coming from a division rival. Minshew gives backup insurance as Wentz draws interest. Tonyan is a blocking TE and Mitchell replaces Perine. Hunt, Brown, and Juju keep the offensive intact/consistent. Reid is a big loss and Nandi is a solid player who’s been on the team for a while.
Raiders – B-
Main Additions: QB Geno Smith (trade), S Jeremy Chinn, G Alex Cappa, LB Elandon Roberts, CB Eric Stokes, RB Raheem Mostert
Main Re-signings: Edge Malcolm Koonce, DT Adam Butler
Main Losses: CB Nate Hobbs, QB Gardner Minshew, C Andre James, LB Robert Spillane, S Tre’von Moehrig, RB Alexander Mattison
The Raiders shocked people with the trade for Geno Smith to solve their QB issues reuniting with HC Pete Carroll. Chinn was a smart pickup after a solid rebound season in Washington to help replace Moehrig. Cappa is coming off a season ranked as the least effective starting lineman, but maybe he fits this system better/has something left. Roberts is a solid run stopping LB replacing Spillane. Stokes is a lanky young CB who can help replace Hobbs. Mostert replaces Mattison as the bruiser back. Koonce and Butler are productive players.
