Texans – B
Main Additions: WR Christian Kirk (trade), S C.J. Gardner-Johnson (trade), DT Sheldon Rankins, G Laken Tomlinson, WR Braxton Berrios, WR Justin Watson, T Cam Robinson, T Trent Brown
Main Re-signings: Edge Derek Barnett, DT Mario Edwards Jr.
Main Losses: LT Laremy Tunsil (trade), G Kenyon Green (trade), G Shaq Mason, S Eric Murray
The Texans smartly traded for Kirk for a 7th round pick with the injury to Tank Dell giving them another speedy playmaker in space. The Texans shocked everyone deciding to trade Tunsil moving off a solid LT, but I believe they got back good value. They followed that up by also trading Green who is a solid young Guard but suffered injuries last year in exchange for Gardner-Johnson who offsets the loss of Eric Murray. Rankins was a solid addition to the D-line as a veteran who brings pass rush up the middle. Tomlinson is a physical veteran Guard who offsets the loss of Green. Berrios and Watson will provide depth at WR with Diggs likely out the door. The recent signing of Robinson gives them a veteran LT with the loss of Tunsil. Re-signing Barnett and Edwards were solid moves keeping the strong D-line depth. Late signing of Trent Brown gives them veteran insurance at the tackle spots.
Colts – C+
Main Additions: QB Daniel Jones, CB Charvarius Ward, S Cam Bynum, DT Neville Gallimore, RB Khalil Herbert
Main Re-signings: WR Ashton Dulin
Main Losses: C Ryan Kelly, G Will Fries
As expected, the Colts brought in Daniel Jones to compete with Anthony Richardson as they can run the same offense for both, due to mobility. Ward has been a solid veteran #1 CB which is much needed. Bynum is a productive young player and was a fan favorite in Minnesota also filling a need. Gallimore brings run stopping ability. Hebert is a tough running #3 back at this point. Big losses on the O-line in Kelly and Fries so they may need more talent inside.
Titans – C
Main Additions: G Kevin Zeitler, T Dan Moore Jr, LB Cody Barton, S Xavier Woods, WR Van Jefferson, QB Brandon Allen
Main Re-signings: DT Sebastian Joseph-Day
Main Losses: Edge Harold Landry, LB Kenneth Murray, WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, QB Mason Rudolph
The Titans are continuing to improve their O-line so adding a solid veteran Guard in Zeitler and a LT in Moore who started for the Steelers for years will help a lot. Barton played very well when given the chance with the Broncos, so he should have a clear way to snaps here helping to replace Murray. Woods has been a solid veteran Safety and fills a need at FS. Jefferson is a veteran slot WR who needs to be more consistent, but he should see meaningful snaps here. Allen is coming in as a veteran backup to replace Rudolph, but they are expected to select a QB in the draft. They will need to get pass rush help in the draft to replace Landry. The offense will miss Westbrook-Ikhine and WR will be another position to draft.
Jags – D
Main Additions: QB Nick Mullens, TE Hunter Long, CB Jourdan Lewis, WR Dynami Brown, S Eric Murray, TE Johnny Mundt
Main Losses: QB Mac Jones, WR Christian Kirk (trade), TE Evan Engram, CB Ronald Darby, WR Devin Duvernay, C Mitch Morse, S Andre Cisco
The Jaguars started free agency releasing Kirk but found a taker getting a low round pick for him instead. They signed Brown to help offset the Kirk loss, Brown proved to be a solid playmaker in space in Washington last season. Long and Mundt proved they could play while filling in for injured starters, so they will provide depth with the losses at TE mostly Engram who was released for cap reasons. Lewis is a solid nickel CB and will fill the same role here. Murray is veteran DB who will offset the loss of Cisco. Mullens replaces Jones as the veteran backup.
