Ell’s 2026 NFL Draft Grades: AFC North

Ravens – B 1 top level starter, 1 value pick, 1 or more sleepers, good need picks

The Ravens started the draft with the obvious pick (shouldn’t have changed my original mock 1st person to mock it) in G Olaivavega Ioane (Penn State) a plug and play run blocker with good size, physicality, and experience who lacks mobility; I expect him to be a longtime starter. 2nd round Edge Zion Young (Missouri) was viewed as a late 1st round talent as a physical pass rusher with good size and strength who needs to improve his awareness and technique. 3rd round WR Ja’Kobi Lane (USC) is a lanky WR with good speed, hands, and playmaking in space, but he needs to prove he can get consistent separation. 4th round pick WR Elijah Surratt (Indiana) is a possession WR with good hands, route-running, and physicality, but he lacks top speed; he has #2 WR potential. TE Matthew Hibner (SMU) is a pass catching TE with good run blocking and quickness, but he is still raw and may fit best at Fullback. 5th round CB Chandler Rivers (Duke) is an experienced, productive, undersized CB who lacks the size to help in the run game or play on the outside. TE Josh Cuevas (Alabama) is an undersized blocking TE who might fit best at Fullback. RB Adam Randall (Clemson) is a huge converted WR with good hands, speed, and playmaking, but he is still raw and needs to stay healthy. 6th round P Ryan Eckley (Michigan) is an experienced Punter expected to compete for the starting job. 7th round DT Rayshaun Benny (Michigan) is a high-motor lineman with good production who needs to add weight/strength and improve his technique; he is believed to have potential. G Evan Beerntsen (Northwestern) is an undersized experienced RG who may need to move to Center.

Browns – A- 1 trade down, good value with 1st 4 picks, good depth/need picks

The Browns smartly traded down to the #9 pick from #6, selecting T Spencer Fano (Utah) an experienced Tackle on both sides with good strength and run blocking, but his short arms make teams believe he could be a better Guard or Center; the Browns have rebuilt the O-line. With their second 1st round pick from the Jaguars trade last year, they selected WR K.C. Concepcion (Texas A&M) an experienced slot WR with good playmaking in space, speed, and return skills. 2nd round WR Denzel Boston (Washington) was viewed as a late 1st round talent with good size, speed, and hands to be a #1 possession WR. S Emmanuel McNeil-Warren (Toledo) was one of my sleepers as a playmaking lanky coverage safety who impressed in the draft process, but he needs to clean up his tackling and technique; he has starter potential. 3rd round T Austin Barber (Florida) is big Tackle with experience on both sides, good strength, and run blocking, but he needs to improve his pass blocking and technique. 5th round C Parker Brailsford (Alabama) is an undersized Center with good strength, footwork, and athleticism, but he needs to add weight and improve his pass blocking. LB Justin Jefferson (Alabama) is an undersized LB with good athleticism, versatility, and production, but he needs to add weight and improve against the run. TE Joe Hoyer (Cincinnati) is a physical, pass catching TE with good experience who projects as a blocking TE where he will need to add weight and improve his technique. 6th round QB Taylen Green (Arkansas) is one of my sleepers as a big, athletic dual threat QB with good experience and production, but he needs to improve his decision making and technique. 7th round TE Carsen Ryan (BYU) is an athletic blocking TE with good size and improving pass catching; he might make it on Special Teams.

Steelers – B 1 or more starters, good need picks, 1 value pick, 1 top level sleeper

The Steelers shocked everyone selecting T Max Iheanachor (Arizona State) in the 1st round, a big athletic Tackle with good strength who has impressed in all workouts, but he is still raw with potential. 2nd round WR Germie Bernard (Alabama) is an experienced WR with good inside/outside versatility and playmaking in space or out of the backfield, but he lacks top speed and needs to be more consistent; he has #2 WR potential. 3rd round QB Drew Allar (Penn State) is a big QB like the Steelers like with a big arm who can make all the throws, but he needs to improve his decision-making and technique. CB Daylen Everette (Georgia) is a lanky player with good coverage skills and speed but needs to improve as a tackler. G Gennings Dunker (Iowa) went viral for his mullet, but he is an experienced RT who is considered a power run blocking Guard and sleeper with starting potential. 4th round WR Kaden Wetjen (Iowa) is a small slot WR known for his return skills production. 5th round TE Riley Nowakowski (Indiana) is an undersized run blocker with good hands who fits as Fullback (FB). 6th round DE Gabe Rubio (Notre Dame) is a huge run stopper with inside/outsider versatility, but he lacks pass rush and needs to stay healthy. 7th round S Robert Spears-Jennings (Oklahoma) is a coverage Safety with good size, speed, and physicality who needs to improve his awareness. RB Eli Heidenreich (Navy) is a productive receiving back who lacks top speed and needs to add weight.

Bengals – B- 1 good veteran trade, 1 value pick, 1 sleeper, picks at need positions

The Bengals traded the #10 pick for veteran DT Dexter Lawrence from the Giants a big run stopper with the motor to create a pass rush up the middle; he should be a solid addition and leader. 2nd round pick Edge/OLB Cashius Howell (Texas A&M) was viewed as a 1st round talent with his speed, pass rush ability, and production, but he lacks ideal size and run stopping ability; he could be a situational rusher early. 3rd round CB Tacario Davis (Washington) a big, lanky CB with good size, speed, and physicality, but he needs to clean up his technique and tackling. 4th round C Connor Lew (Auburn) is a strong lineman with good technique, leadership, and potential, but he is coming off an injury and needs to improve his footwork; he is viewed as a sleeper. WR Colbie Young (Georgia) is a big, possession WR with good strength and hands, but he lacks top speed and has had injuries and off the field issues. 6th round T Brian Parker II (Duke) is an experienced Tackle on both sides who projects to move inside, but he needs to add weight/strength and clean up his technique. 7th TE Jack Endries (Texas) is a tough, pass catching TE who needs to add strength and improve his route running and blocking. DT Landon Robinson (Navy) is an undersized DT with pass rush potential and good production for Special Teams.
