NFL Head Coach Hire Grades
Patriots – Mike Vrabel A-
Minus grade for the treatment of Jerod Mayo, but best coach on the market. Veteran presence can fix the defense immediately and lead men.
Bears – Ben Johnson C+
Smart offensive mind. Overrated to me as a Goff fan, he didn’t fix Goff but was creative with the playbook. Young and creative, his job is to fix Caleb Williams, but what about the defense?
Jets – Aaron Glenn A-
Smart defensive mind, former Jet and scout both pluses. Fiery press conference to motivate everyone, but lack of experience. Seems to be the right guy for the job and fixing the defense.
Raiders – Pete Carroll B+
Experienced veteran Head Coach, and culture builder that the Raiders need. Builds off run game and defense and that should build a solid foundation. Tough coach for a tough division.
Jaguars – Liam Cohen C+
Smart offensive mind and one of the top coordinators in the game. I thought Panthers coach fixed Baker Mayfield, but he got the same credit. I think he might be able to fix Trevor Lawrence (the main job), but what about the defense?
Cowboys – Brian Schottenheimer C+
The son of a great coach, so he should bring the same foundation run game/defense. In multiple systems, so he should be experienced/veteran despite lack of experience. Experience with Dak and Cowboys a plus. Move didn’t move the needle for fan base or team, clear step back.
Saints – Kellen Moore C+
Experienced offensive coordinator who’s used to running the show offensively. Proven to help offense with proper weapons. Best option was probably Cowboys, step back with Chargers was questionable, but was Eagles success Saquan based? Tough situation to navigate personnel/cap wise.
