Ell’s 2025 NFL Draft 1st Round Grades

1. Titans – QB Cam Ward, Miami – A-

The Titans needed a QB and Ward makes sense. He has a strong arm, relaxed demeanor, and seems more than ready to lead the franchise.

2. Jags (Browns trade) – CB/WR Travis Hunter, Colorado – A

The Jags have a need at both positions, so Hunter will work out somewhere, hopefully both. Moving up to get the #1 overall player at #2 was a smart move. I couldn’t go A+ because they gave up next year’s 1st.

3. Giants – Edge Abdul Carter, Penn State – A-

This was a move I didn’t expect with Burns and Thibodeaux already on the roster, but this might be the end of Thibodeaux. Carter is the top pass rusher in the draft and #2 overall, so great value.

4. Patriots – T Will Campbell, LSU – B+

This was a move many people predicted but I feel they could have moved down and still got him. Campbell is more of a RT in my opinion, but I believe he will be good player regardless.

5. Browns (Jags trade) – DT Mason Graham, Michigan – A+

The Browns collected a 1st from the Jags for next year and still drafted the #4 player overall on my board. Graham is a nice piece to make Myles Garrett happy adding to the pass rush.

6. Raiders – RB Ashtyn Jeanty, Boise State – A

Jeanty fits the Pete Carroll system as a workhorse back to rely on. He was clearly the top RB in the draft and good value at #6 based on talent as I had him as my #3 overall player.

7. Jets – T Armand Membou, Missouri – A

The Jets have a need at RT to complete the turnover at O-line and Membou is the perfect fit. He’s only 20 years old with more room to develop and I think he would be a solid starter.

8. Panthers – WR Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona – B+

I thought Walker would have been the perfect fit here, but adding a weapon for Bryce in McMillan is never a bad thing. I’m not sure if he is a #1 WR, but he has the potential to be.

9. Saints – T Kelvin Banks Jr., Texas – A-

Banks should be able to fill right in at LT as I had him as my highest rated lineman and #1 LT. Shocked the Saints didn’t take a QB, but Banks can continue to improve the O-line.

10. Bears – TE Colston Loveland, Michigan – B

I didn’t see TE as a big need for the Bears and Loveland was ranked as the #2 TE on most boards behind Warren. However, a playmaking TE to help Williams is not a bad idea, but they could have moved down.

11. 49ers – Edge Mykel Williams, Georgia – B+

I’m not big on Williams but I did mock this pick as a good fit. I think he could be a good replacement for LB Dre Greenlaw with his physical play while adding some pass rush off the edge.

12. Cowboys – G Tyler Booker, Alabama – A

With the retirement of Zack Martin, I thought this was the perfect fit. Booker has the attitude and playing style coaches love so I think he will be a Cowboy for a long time.

13. Dolphins – DT Kenneth Grant, Michigan – A

The Dolphins have a big need on the D-line and Grant is the perfect fit as a do it all DT. Grant is a solid player that most people slept on, but clearly the Dolphins know what he can do.

14. Colts – TE Tyler Warren, Penn State – A

Another pick that most people saw coming, as the Colts haven’t gotten much production at TE for a few seasons now. Warren is a versatile TE who can fill a lot of roles and should help give the QB an easy target.

15. Falcons – Edge Jalon Walker, Georgia – A+

To get a player that could have easily gone #7 or #8 at #15 is great value. Walker is a player I am very high on as the film speaks for itself. He is a pass rusher who can fill a lot of roles, but I think he would be best at MLB.

16. Cardinals – DT Walter Nolen, Ole Miss – B+

The Cardinals have been building up their defense this offseason and still had a need alone the D-line. Nolen is a versatile player who can play DE or DT providing pass rush, so he fits the system nicely.

17. Bengals – Edge Shemar Stewart, Texas A&M – C+

Another player I’m not big on, the lack of college production is a big red flag for me. Stewart is a physical specimen and was a workout warrior at the Combine, but I need to see it. He played DE and DT in college but slimmed down for the draft.

18. Seahawks – T/G Grey Zabel, North Dakota State – B+

Zabel played Tackle in college, but scouts think he might be a better Guard or Center. The Seahawks have a need a Guard and RT, so he will fill one of the roles. He seems like a safe pick here.

19. Buccaneers – WR Emeka Egbuka, Ohio State – B+

A player I really like in the draft, but I didn’t see the Bucs going offense. Evans is getting older and Godwin has been injury prone, so it does make sense. Egbuka has #2 WR potential but should be a matchup nightmare in the slot.

20. Broncos – CB Jahdae Barron, Texas – A-

I didn’t expect the Broncos to go defense, but Barron completes a good CB group with Surtain II and Riley Moss. Barron at 20 is great value and he should be ready day 1 after winning the Thorpe Award.

21. Steelers – DT Derrick Harmon, Oregon – B+

Very shocked the Steelers didn’t go QB, but Harmon was a player many mocks had here. He fits as an athletic DT who can also play DE where he will most likely play in this 3-4 system.

22. Chargers – RB Omarion Hampton, North Carolina – B+

While the Chargers added Harris in the offseason, the RB room still needed someone else after letting go Dobbins and Edwards. Hampton is the physical runner Harbaugh needs for his offense and good insurance as the #2 RB for now.

23. Packers – WR Matthew Golden, Texas – B-

I thought they might go CB or defense in general, but with the injury to Christian Watson it was thought they might add a WR at some point. While Golden has special speed that the other WRs don’t have, this seems more like a luxury pick.

24. Vikings – G Donovan Jackson, Ohio State – B+

The Vikings added two lineman in the offseason so adding Jackson finishes the O-line rebuild. Jackson showed good versatility filling in at LT for Simmons pushing him into the 1st round. He should be solid at Guard.

25. Giants (Texans trade) – QB Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss – B

Smart move for the Giants to move back up for their QB with Dart dropping, but it makes signing two QB’s and keeping DeVito pointless. Dart is talented with a good arm, but at this point the veterans keep him at #3.

26. Falcons (Rams trade) – Edge James Pearce, Tennessee – A-

Pearce is a top 10 talent in my opinion so smart move for the Falcons to move back up and snatch a falling player. Pearce should be the lanky pass rusher the Falcons lack and great job pairing him with Walker who they picked at 15.

27. Ravens – S Malaki Starks, Georgia – B+

I like this move as I him mocked here at a point. Starks is a nice coverage safety to replace Williams, but I like him at CB so he could offer versatility as a movable piece in the secondary.

28. Lions – DT Tyleik Williams, Ohio State – B+

Williams is a tough physical player who fits the team with that mentality. He is tough run stuffer who can also give some push up the middle and should take on double teams.

29. Commanders – T Josh Conerly Jr., Oregon – B+

The Commanders are clearly emphasizing protecting their QB and Conerly makes sense, as one of the top LT prospects. Conerly has the footwork and skillset to be a LT and doesn’t have to rush with Tunsil in front of him.

30. Bills – CB Maxwell Hairston – Kentucky – A-

I upgraded this pick to A- after seeing Hairston show love to everyone drafted giving Keon Coleman vibes who they drafted last year of good energy. Hairston is a very fast CB with the coverage skills to play early he fills a big need.

31. Eagles – LB Jihaad Campbell – Alabama – A+

Campbell fell due to injury concerns, but to grab a player at 31 that could have easily gone #11 at the highest is great value. He is the clear best LB in a weak LB class and should be another draft day steal by the Eagles.

32. Chiefs – Josh Simmons, Ohio State – A

Simmons is a player I had ranked very highly, but he does come with injury concerns. However, healthy he is the best LT in the draft, so he fills a big need for the Chiefs. Great value to grab him at 32.
