Ell’s 2026 NFL Draft Grades: NFC West

Cardinals – B Two likely starters, three good selections and a possible sleeper

The Cardinals shocked everyone selecting RB Jeremiyah Love (Notre Dame) despite the pre-draft rumors that many thought would cause a trade up scenario. Love is a top talent and the best RB in the draft with three down potential and top pass catching ability to match his physical running style, but the Cardinals had bigger needs and will owe a rookie RB top $. In the 2nd round, G Chase Bisontis (Texas A&M) was considered a late 1st round talent as a power run blocking Guard with good experience who should start Day 1. 3rd round QB Carson Beck (Miami) was originally viewed as a top 10 pick before a down year at Georgia, then an up and down year at Miami, but he is a good leader who can make all the throws but needs to clean up the mistakes. 4th round DT Kaleb Proctor (SE Louisiana) is an undersized productive pass rusher with a high motor and good quickness, but he will need to add weight/strength and get used to the upgrade in competition. 5th round WR Reggie Virgil (Virginia Tech) is a lanky possession WR with good strength but lacks speed; he will provide depth. 6th round LB Karson Sharar (Iowa) is an undersized MLBand 1yr starter with high Special Teams experience. 7th round pick T Jayden Williams (Ole Miss) has experience at LT and RT but will need to earn a spot.

Seahawks – B- Two potential starters, filled needs

The Seahawks selected RB Jadarian Price (Notre Dame) at the end of the 1st round to help replace RB Kenneth Walker who left via free agency. Price is a strong runner with experience in the return game. 2nd round pick S Bud Clark (TCU) is built like a lanky CB making him a movable piece with good coverage, a nose for the football, and a physical willing tackler, but he needs to add weight/strength and prove he can stay healthy; he is a good replacement for FS/CB Coby Bryant. 3rd round pick CB Julian Neal (Arkansas) is a big, physical press corner with Safety size making him a movable piece; he lacks top speed but has potential making him a replacement for Tariq Woolen. 5th round Guard Beau Stephens (Iowa) is an experienced, strong lineman who plays with good strength and pass protection, but he has short arms and limited mobility; he will provide depth. 6th round pick WR Emmanuel Henderson Jr. (Kansas) is a raw WR with good size, speed, and Special Teams experience returning and coverage; he may need to earn his spot. 7th round pick CB Andre Fuller (Toledo) is another big CB with Special Teams experience who will need to earn his spot along with CB Michael Dansby (Arizona). DT Deven Eastern (Minnesota) is a big active lineman with some pass rush who will need to earn a spot also.

Rams – D Not big on the Simpson pick, good trade, 1 good pick at a logjam position

The Rams had the 13th pick thanks to a smart trade in last year’s draft, allowing them to select QB Ty Simpson (Alabama) who should be groomed as the successor to veteran QB Matthew Stafford and an insurance policy. Simpson has proven to be accurate despite being a 1yr starter and has shown good leadership, but he is undersized and needs to improve against the blitz. The Rams traded their own 1st round pick for veteran CB Trent McDuffie from the Chiefs.  2nd round TE Max Klare (Ohio State) is an athletic pass catching TE with good size and possible starter potential, he needs to improve as a blocker. 3rd round pick T Keagen Trost (Missouri) is an experienced lineman playing at 4 different schools showing good strength, athleticism, and run blocking, but he needs to improve his pass blocking; he offers Guard versatility also. 6th round pick WR C.J. Daniels (Miami) is an experienced WR playing at 3 schools known for creating separation and making tough catches, but he will need to prove he can stay healthy, improve his route running, and earn his spot. 7th round pick DT Tim Keenan III (Alabama) is run stopping NT with the motor to get to the QB, but he lacks length and will need to earn his spot.

49ers – C+ 1st round trade down, 1 sleeper, selected need picks

The 49ers traded down out the 1st round, selecting WR De’Zhaun Stribling (Ole Miss) in the 2nd round slightly early as a lanky WR with good speed and playmaking in space, but he is still raw and will need to work his way up the depth chart. 3rd round pick Edge Romello Height (Texas Tech) is a well-known sleeper pick with his high motor, pass rush moves, and production, but he needs to add strength to his frame. RB Kaelon Black (Indiana) is a compact physical back who runs tough with good burst but needs to improve as a receiver and lacks top speed. 4th round pick DT Gracen Halton (Oklahoma) is a pass rusher with good footwork, but he needs to add strength for run stopping. T/G Carver Willis (Washington) is a good run blocker who plays with good technique, but he needs add strength and lack of length may move him to Guard. CB Ephesians Prysock (Washington) is a tall, lanky player with good speed and run stopping ability, but he needs to improve his technique, physicality, and playmaking. 5th round pick LB Jaden Dugger (Louisiana) is a converted Safety who plays with good speed, coverage, and a willing tackler, but he needs to add strength and improve his awareness. T Enrique Cruz (Kansas) has good size, strength, and experience at LT and RT, but will need to improve his pass blocking.
